
K-State Sending Six to U.S. Collegiate National Team Tryout

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State head volleyball coach Suzie Fritz announced she is sending six Wildcats to the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team Open Tryout at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, that takes place from February 21-23.
K-State's list of participants includes setter Teana Adams-Kaonohi, outside hitter Brynn Carlson, outside hitter Aliyah Carter, middle blocker Faith Hammontree, defensive specialist/libero Loren Hinkle and defensive specialist/libero Dru Kuck.
Four Wildcats – Adams-Kaonohi, Carlson, Hammontree and Hinkle – were each invited to the tryout in 2019. Carter, a freshman who joined the program in January, and Kuck will try out for the first time.
The tryout will evaluate athletes from 95 colleges from across the country for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Collegiate National Team (CNT) programs. U.S. Women's National Team head coach Karch Kiraly will direct the entire tryout process. Kiraly is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and a U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer.
The three-day tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session. Friday's first session runs from 3-9 p.m. CT, while Saturday's sessions are at 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. The final session on Sunday begins at 8:30 a.m. with tournament-style play and concludes at 11:30 a.m.
The 2020 U.S. Collegiate National Team program will have 56 athletes selected with 28 each competing in two training time periods. Both programs will train in Anaheim alongside athletes selected for the U.S. Olympic Women's Volleyball Team and its coaching staff. The CNT Gold will train July 5-12 plus have an international competition in the Southern California area, while the CNT Anaheim group will train June 21-27 and have a Red-Blue intrasquad match in the Southern California area.

Carlson earned an opportunity to play with the U.S. Junior National Team in 2017, competing with the team in Florida.
Additionally, the Wildcats' associate head coach Jeff Grove will be one of 15 coaches who will serve as evaluators over the three days.
