K-State Battles North Texas, Arizona this Weekend

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Looking to extend its winning streak, the Kansas State women's tennis team travels to Tucson, Arizona this weekend to take on North Texas on Saturday, February 8 at 1 p.m. CT and then host Arizona on Sunday, February 9 at 11 a.m., CT. Both matches will take place at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center

This will be the fifth consecutive year K-State has faced off with North Texas (5-0), coming away with a 4-0 record against the Mean Green from 2016-19. The match with Arizona takes its second turn as both teams competed in Dallas, Texas last year with K-State earning a 4-0 victory.

The Wildcats enter the weekend on a roll with bounce-back victories against Wichita State and Missouri on January 31 and February 2, with both of those matches resulting in scores of 5-2.

After losing the doubles' point early in the match against Missouri on Sunday, the Wildcats rebounded to rout the Tigers in singles play, taking five of the six matchups to run away with the second victory of the weekend.

The Wildcats began the week at Wichita State and made the most of the opportunity, as the team ran past the Shockers in singles play to clinch the first victory of the two-game stretch.

During the doubles portion of the match against the Shockers, juniors Maria Linares and Lilla Barzo earned a pivotal set victory over Wichita State's Sandra Honigova and Marta Bellucco at 7-5. The Shockers' duo is currently tabbed in doubles play at the No. 54 spot in the ITA polls.

Between the two matches last week, K-State compiled nine wins in singles play, which increases the total number of victories on the season to 15 in dual match competition.
