MANHATTAN, Kan. – With 26 kills in K-State's four-set win over No. 24 Creighton, freshman Aliyah Carter earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors in addition to being named Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Carter, who was one kill shy of her own freshman program record, logged a .449 hitting efficiency to help the Wildcats pick up their first win over a ranked team since 2018. Her efficiency mark was just shy of her career-best percentage of .450.
She now owns K-State's top three kill totals by a freshman in program history and has five 20-kill outings in her initial campaign.
In the victory over the Bluejays, Carter also added nine digs and an ace as she played six rotations for the third consecutive match.
A native of Dubuque, Iowa, Carter collects her fourth Rookie of the Week honor while being named Offensive Player of the Week for the first time.
The honors mark the eighth and ninth weekly league awards K-State has earned the season. During the fall campaign, Abigail Archibong (Defensive), Shelby Martin (Offensive) and Jayden Nembhard (Rookie, twice) were each recognized by the league office.
K-State (12-7, 10-6 Big 12) hosts Wayne State (Neb.) Sunday at Bramlage Coliseum in its final home game of the spring season at 1 p.m. The match will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and the ESPN app. Fan can listen to Rob Voelker call the action online at K-StateSports.com/watch.
