Tillmanns Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regional

STILLWATER, Okla. – Kansas State men's golf sophomore Tim Tillmanns concluded a stellar sophomore campaign on Tuesday at the 2021 NCAA Stillwater Regional, held at the par-72, 7,502-yard Karsten Creek Golf Club.
Tillmanns, who carded an 11-over par 83 during the final round, finished in a tie for 69th at 20-over par 236. After struggling over the first 12 holes on Tuesday where he was 12-over par, the Cologne, Germany product carded five pars and a birdie on No. 18 to wrap up the tournament and the season.
"It was a tough day for Tim," head coach Grant Robbins said. "He was a little off on his ball striking, and this is a course where if you're even just a little bit off, you can make some big numbers."
With his regional appearance, Tillmanns became the fifth Wildcat to compete at an NCAA Regional in the last three opportunities. He paced the K-State all year, leading the team with a 72.05 stroke average before postseason play, as well as a team-best five top-20 finishes.
"It was definitely a great learning experience and something that will make him better in the long run," Robbins continued.
Regional host Oklahoma State won the event at 28-under par 836 as the Cowboys secured their spot in the 2021 NCAA Championship along with Illinois, SMU, Sam Houston State and Little Rock. Colorado State's AJ Ott will be the lone individual to advance from the Stillwater Regional thanks to a 5-under par 211 to tie for third.
The Wildcats are set to return eight players for the 2021-22 season to a squad that secured a share of the Husker Invitational earlier this year, as K-State looks to crack into NCAA Regionals as a team for the first time since 2009.
