
Four Wildcats Earn Spots on College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State volleyball placed a program-high four players on the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District First Team.
The four student-athletes to earn the distinction were: junior Kayde Fernholz, senior Loren Hinkle, junior Mackenzie Morris and sophomore Molly Ramsey. This was the first career Academic All-District honor for the four recipients.
Fernholz has started all 27 matches for the Wildcats and led the team in kills four times this season, including a career-best 14 kills at TCU Saturday. The middle blocker from Miller, South Dakota, led the Wildcats in kills four times and blocks nine times this season, picking up totals of 179 kills and 101 blocks.
A setter from Shawnee, Kansas, Hinkle has set career-highs in assists, kills and blocks in her new role for the Wildcats, accumulating a conference fourth-best 9.80 assists per set. In 26 starts, the five-foot-nine senior racked up over 900 assists and 55 blocks to go with 32 aces, the second highest on the team.
Morris, a libero from Dallas, Texas, currently sits second in the Big 12 with 455 digs and 4.46 digs per set. The junior accumulated a career-best 29 digs at Oklahoma on October 19, which tied the fourth-most digs in a single match by any Big 12 team this season. Morris adds 19 aces and 70 assists.
A defensive specialist from Roca, Nebraska, Ramsey has appeared in all 27 matches, tallying 177 digs for 1.75 digs per set. The sophomore set a single-match career-high 12 digs turned in against Kansas on September 24. She owns 22 matches with five or more digs and adds 18 total aces on the season.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second- team Academic All-America selections will be announced December 21.
The Wildcats (14-13, 5-9 Big 12) host Texas Tech (15-12, 4-10 Big 12) for senior night Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Bramlage Coliseum. The Big 12 match will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Rob Voelker will also have the call with live audio streaming at K-StateSports.com/watch.
