K-State Places 13th in Regular Season Finale
Apr 12, 2022 | Women's Golf
FORT WORTH, Texas - The Kansas State women's golf team carded an 8-over par 294 third round on Tuesday at The Bruzzy, but the Wildcats were unable to move up the standings and finished in 13th place at the par-72, 6,277-yard Waterchase Golf Club.Â
Â
"Today was a better day," head coach Kristi Knight said. "We didn't start the event well, but they kept competing. We need to build off days like today. No matter the conditions you have to score your ball, and we did that a little better each day."
Â
The Wildcats' final score of 35-over par 899 was good enough to pick up a seven-stroke win against in-state rival Kansas.Â
Â
Napua Glossner was the leader for K-State, finishing in a tie for 38th place at 6-over par 222 after tallying four final-round birdies en route to her third straight 2-over par 74 round of the event. This is the third time this spring that Glossner has been the team-high finisher for the Cats.
Â
Next on the leaderboard was Haley Vargas in a tie for 46th place at 8-over par 224. The junior recorded a 2-over par 76 third round.Â
Â
Manon Donche-Gay closed out the tournament with a 2-over par 74 third round to move up five spots and into a tie for 62nd place at 12-over par 228.Â
Â
Remington Isaac and Gabriela McNelly both had a solid second day, each carding 1-over par 73 third rounds. Isaac finished tied for 69th place at 15-over par 231, while McNelly finished in 73rd place at 15-over par 233.Â
Â
No. 17 Baylor ran away with the team title at 21-under par 843. Sabrina Iqbal of TCU used a 9-under par 63 final round to claim the individual championship at 11-under par 205.
Â
With the regular season behind them, the Wildcats will now focus on postseason play, which begins with the Big 12 Championship, April 22-24, at the Houston Oaks Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
