BOCA RATON, Fla. - Led by a top-10 individual finish from Manon Donche-Gay, the Kansas State women's golf team finished in seventh place at the FAU Paradise Invitational following final-round play on Tuesday on the par-72, 6,204-yard Osprey Point Golf Course.
The Wildcats shot a 7-over par 295 final round to bring their final total to 9-over par 873, the lowest 54-hole tally of the season.
"There are multiple positives from this result," said head coach Kristi Knight. "The ladies competed well."
Six even or under-par rounds were shot by Wildcats throughout the tournament, a number that doubled their season total going into the week.
Donche-Gay fired a 2-under par 70 final round to tie for eighth place at 4-under par 212, a career-best score. The senior closed out her round in style with five birdies on her last six holes as she earned her second career top-10 finish.
A product of Avignon, France, Donche-Gay recorded the lowest 54-hole score by a Wildcat since Reid Isaac shot a 5-under par 205 at the Sam Golden Invitational in September 2020, which was also the last time a Wildcat shot three consecutive even or under-par rounds.
"Manon played very well. I'm proud of her," Knight said. "She hit a lot of good shots and putted well."
Next on the leaderboard for K-State was Haley Vargas at 2-over par 218, good for a tie in 22nd place and the second-highest finish of her career. Vargas shot a 2-over par 74 final round. Her 2-over par 218 was just two strokes off of her career-best 54-hole tally.
Competing this week as an individual, Noa Van Beek put together a nice performance. The freshman carded a 4-over par 76 final round to tie for 37th place at 6-over par 222.
A stroke behind her was Napua Glossner, who shot a 3-over par 75 final round to finish in a tie for 41st place at 7-over par 223.
Remington Isaac closed out her tournament tied for 57th place at 11-over par 227 following a 4-over par 76 final round, while Kate Tilma finished in a tie for 64th place at 14-over par 230 with a 6-over par 78 final round.
Running away with the tournament championship was No. 19 Vanderbilt at 29-under par 835. Letizia Bagnoli from host-school Florida Atlantic narrowly won the individual crown at 11-under par 205, one stroke ahead of Vanderbilt's Virginie Ding.
Kansas State will have some practice time before the Wildcats look to build on this performance at the Westbrook Invitational, February 26-27, in Peoria, Arizona.
