TUCSON, Ariz. - The Kansas State women's golf team put together its second-straight solid round on Sunday to close out the MountainView Collegiate held at the par-72, 6,352-yard MountainView Golf Club.
The Wildcats fired an even-par 288 in the final round to end with a 54-hole score of 8-over par 872, finishing in a tie for 15th place. Their performance in the final round came on the heels of a 1-under par 287 round on Saturday.
"The ladies showed resilience this weekend," said head coach Kristi Knight. "We got off to a poor start in round one, but they hung in there and overcame spotty ball striking at times."
Haley Vargas guided the Wildcats as she tied for 22nd place at 3-under par 213 after carding her second-consecutive round of 2-under par 70. Her 54-hole score of 3-under par 213 was a new career low, bettering a 1-under par 215 she recorded earlier this season.
Noa van Beek recorded her third-straight even par round as she finished in a tie for 41st place at even-par 216. It was the second-straight tournament she shot even or under par overall as she finished at 3-under par 213 at the Westbrook Invitational.
Remington Isaac tied for 63rd place at 4-over par 220 after tallying a 2-over par 74 in the final round. One shot behind her was Gabriela McNelly, who was competing as an individual, as she tied for 69th at 5-over par 221 following an even-par 72 round on Sunday.
Napua Glossner shot an even-par 72 on Sunday as she tied for 78th place with a 54-hole score of 7-over par 223, while Manon Donche-Gay finished in 82nd place at 10-over par 226 following a 2-over par 74 final round.
No. 26 Iowa State ran away with the team title after setting new tournament records for lowest round - a 29-under par 259 on Sunday - and lowest 54-hole score at 60-under par 804. The Cyclones were led by individual champion Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, who tied an NCAA women's golf record by carding a 25-under par 191.
Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to Ardmore, Oklahoma, to take part in The Bruzzy, April 1 and 2, at Dornick Hills Country Club.
