Junior Aleen Quamar (No. 4) and freshmen Vanesa Suarez (No. 2) and Rozalia Gruszczynska (No. 5) each won in straight sets to force the tie, however, junior Manami Ukita was unable to complete the comeback, falling to Carmen Roxana Manu, 6-3, 0-6, 5-7, at No. 3 singles.
Sophomore Florentine Dekkers leads all players with 6 wins, including at 3 at No. 1 singles, while Ukita is second with 5 wins. In doubles play, Dekkers and Quamar leads the way with 3 victories.
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State currently sit in second and third place, respectively, in the Big 12 standings behind No. 10 Texas (17-4, 7-1 Big 12) heading into the final matches of the regular season. The Sooners have won 3 straight matches, including back-to-back wins over No. 10 Iowa State and OSU, while the Cowgirls have dropped two of their last three matches, including nationally-ranked OU and ISU.
The Sooners have a pair of top-100 ranked singles players (No. 57 Layne Sleeth and No. 89 Dana Guzman) and two top-40 doubles' tandems (No. 15 Ivana and Carmen Corley and No. 34 Alexandra Pisareva). The Cowgirls are led by No. 117 ranked Alana Wolfberg and the No. 18 doubles' pairing of Raquel Gonzalez and Ayumi Miyamoto.
K-State will conclude the 2022-23 season at the Big 12 Tennis Championships on Thursday-Sunday, April 20-23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kan.
