K-State Releases 2023 Volleyball Schedule
May 16, 2023 | Volleyball
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State volleyball and first-year head coach Jason Mansfield revealed the 2023 schedule Tuesday highlighted by 13 matches inside the new home of Wildcat volleyball, the Morgan Family Arena.
"We are really excited for the season and opening our new arena," said Mansfield. "Our preseason will be tough where we compete against a lot of teams that have a chance to do very well in their respected conferences."
The Cats' 27-match schedule features 10 teams that qualified for last season's NCAA Tournament and seven that were slotted in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Poll.
"The Big 12 schedule will be challenging with so many good teams that made the tournament last year and the addition of four new programs to our conference. The six weekends of back-to-back matches versus the same team will also be tough and how we manage those weekends will be key."
The 2023 slate begins on the road when the Wildcats set out to Oregon to compete in the Portland State Tournament from Aug. 25-27. The three-day event includes matches against Portland State, San Diego State, and Cal State Fullerton.
After the trip out west, K-State opens the home schedule with a pair of non-conference matches as they host Omaha and Nebraska in the first-ever contests in Morgan Family Arena on Sept. 1 and Sept. 3.
Following the home opening weekend, the Cats will make a trip to Nashville Sept. 8-9 to take part in the Lipscomb Tournament with matches against Lipscomb and UT Martin.
The Wildcats' final week of the non-conference schedule includes the annual K-State Invitational Sept. 14-16. The home tournament includes matches against Long Island and Rice.
Big 12 action gets underway for the Wildcats at home on Sept. 21-22 when they take on TCU.
The Wildcats travel out east to take on West Virginia Sept. 27 before returning home for the program's first ever match against Cincinnati Sept. 30.
K-State will trek to Waco, Texas for a two-match series versus Baylor Oct. 5-6 at Ferrell Center.
The Cats return to Morgan Family Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 11, to matchup against Iowa State before traveling to Florida for a single contest against UCF Oct. 14. The Wildcats and Knights meet for just the fourth time in program history, with K-State leading 2-1.
On Oct. 19-20, K-State continues Big 12 action with two matches against the Oklahoma Sooners.
The following weekend, the Wildcats welcome BYU to Manhattan for a pair of matches Oct. 26-27.
Kansas State will set out to Lawrence Nov. 3-4 for the Dillions Sunflower Showdown at rival Kansas in a two-match set.
The Cats return to Manhattan to take on the defending National Champion Texas Longhorns on Nov. 8 followed by matches against Texas Tech Nov. 17-18.
The regular season will conclude Saturday, Nov. 25 with a match at Houston.
Season tickets for the 2023 season will go on sale Monday, July 10, while the Cats' promotional and broadcast schedules will be announced at a later date.
The Wildcats are set to return 11 players from last year's roster, including All-Big 12 honorees Sydney Bolding and Shaylee Myers.
