
Wildcats Hit the Road for Wichita State, Then Host South Dakota

On Friday the 'Cats will compete at the Wichita Country Club at 4 p.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will travel for the first time this season to Wichita State on Friday (Jan. 26) before facing South Dakota on Sunday (Jan. 28) in Manhattan.
K-State (1-0) will travel to Wichita, Kan. on Friday to face the Shockers (2-1) at 4 p.m. CT at the Wichita Country Club. Admission is free.
On Sunday the team will return to Body First Tennis Center in a match against the Coyotes (1-1) at 12 p.m.
The Wildcats are 4-4 against WSU, going 2-1 at home in the last three meetings since 2021. The last time the two met in Wichita in 2020, the 'Cats claimed the victory 5-2.
Last season at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium, K-State lost 4-3, claiming the doubles point and two singles wins, one of them from senior Manami Ukita against Theodora Chantava, 7-5, 6-0.
This will be just the fourth matchup against South Dakota, the Wildcats 3-0 in Manhattan since the first meeting in 2017. The last time the teams met was in 2022 when K-State won 6-1.
In the home opener against Drake on Jan. 20, the 'Cats dropped the doubles point but bounced back with all six singles wins. Junior Veronika Kulhava and freshmen Charlotte Keitel and Tereza Polakova all earned their first spring dual wins as Wildcats.
