K-State Tennis to Face Fordham for the First Time

This will be the third straight matchup against a new opponent
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis will compete at home on Saturday (Feb. 17) against Fordham, for the first ever matchup, the third consecutive match against a new opponent.

The Wildcats (5-2) are back at Body First Tennis Center to face the Rams (3-2) at 1 p.m. CT. Admission is free to the public.

Last weekend the 'Cats played both Alabama and Indiana, also for the first time in program history.

While in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the Wildcats went 1-1 against the hosting Crimson Tide and the Hoosiers. In a 4-3 loss to Alabama, sophomore Vanesa Suarez, ranked no. 92 in singles, defeated no. 50 Petra Sedlackova in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.

The following day, the team swept Indiana 4-0, winning the doubles point with a win from duo junior Veronika Kulhava and freshman Tereza Polakova, 6-2 and the deciding match from freshman Maralgoo Chogsomjav and senior Manami Ukita, 7-5.

In singles matches, Suarez and Keitel both won their third straight singles matches, Chogsomjav also winning a consecutive match.

The Wildcats will then take a two week break before starting Big 12 play on Friday, March 1 at home against Iowa State.
