K-State Wraps Up Mt SAC Relays with Elite Competition

17 Wildcats competed in elite events with multiple top-10 performances
WALNUT, Calif. – The K-State track and field teams wrapped up competition in day four of the Mt SAC Relays on Saturday (April 20) with multiple athletes competing in elite events at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

Ten Wildcats competed in the elite category, as well as the men's and women's 4x400 relay teams.

Senior Kade McCall, currently no. 8 in the NCAA Division I men's hammer throw, competed in the elite event against fellow top-15 ranked men, where he threw over 70 meters for a consecutive meet with a 7th place distance of 70.17m/230-2.

Three men, sophomore Aaron Antoine, junior Marcus Gelpi and senior Devon Richardson all competed in the elite men's high jump, Antoine finishing 5th at 2.13m/6-11.75, while Gelpi and Richardson both cleared 2.08m/6-9.75, for 6th and 8th place, respectively.

Sophomore Sharie Enoe competed in the women's elite high jump, where she finished 6th with a height of 1.77m/5-9.75.

Multiple Wildcats also competed in the women's elite shot put where junior Daisy Monie led the pack with a 9th place finish of 15.90m/52-2. Senior Jaycee Schroeder (12th; 15.13m/49-7.75) and junior Grace Thompson (13th; 15.12m/49-7.25) landed just half an inch apart in the standings.

Also in the women's elite throwing, sophomore Tamaiah Koonce competed in the discus throw with a distance of 53.50m/175-6 in 7th place.

Senior Eugene Omalla ran in the 400 meter dash elite where he finished 6th in 45.80 seconds.

The men's 4x400 relay team, consisting of freshman Nen Matlock and seniors Kyle Gale, E. Omalla and Jaimie Omalla, ran together for the second time where they finished 4th at 3:04.42, ahead of 8 other schools, including Big 12 competitors BYU and Houston.

The women's 4x400 team of sophomores Twaneise Johnson, Jourdin Edwards, Delaney Wright and junior Ludivine Aubert, ran a time of 3:42.01 in 11th place.

While not getting the chance to compete in the elite event, junior Monique Hardy won her third consecutive women's hammer throw in the collegiate category with a distance of 62.96m/206-6.

K-State will return to Manhattan to host the Ward Haylett Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 26-27) at R.V. Christian Track.
