DeVreugd and Ryan both graduated in spring 2024
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State women's rowing head coach Patrick Sweeney announced on Wednesday (Aug. 21) the return of recent graduates Lindsey DeVreugd and Anna Ryan to the 2024-25 coaching staff.
Â
"We're excited to add Lindsey and Anna to our staff. They understand what it takes to be competitive and make a program like ours work," Sweeney said. "Our program is possible because of the people, alumni, current athletes, and future athletes that believe in what we are capable of. My staff works hard to make this program run and we're looking forward to seeing the impact that Lindsey and Anna can have in these roles."
Â
DeVreugd is named assistant coach after spending five seasons with the rowing team from 2019-24.
Â
Last season, DeVreugd was integral to the team's success as the stroke seat of the 3v8+. Season highlights included defeating Kansas at the Sunflower Showdown, a silver medal at the SIRA Championship, and bronze at the Sunshine State Invitational.
Â
In her first three years on the water, DeVreugd competed in the 1v4+ and 2v4+, most notably the 1v4+ that earned a bronze medal at the 2022 Big 12 Championship.
Â
"I'm super excited to have the opportunity to stay around K-State Rowing a bit longer. I loved being a part of this team and it positively impacted my college experience," DeVreugd said. "I look forward to positively shaping the lives of young women on the team. Our team has gotten a lot stronger over the past few years and I can't wait to see how they compete this season."
Â
DeVreugd, a native of Kansas City, Mo., was a two-time varsity letter winner, being named to the Academic All-Big 12 team all five years.
Â
Ryan, from Lee's Summit, Mo., will serve as a graduate assistant. She competed for three seasons as a Wildcat, primarily racing in the 2v8+ and 1v8+ from 2020-24.
Â
During the 2023 season she was part of the 1v8+ that earned Big 12 Boat of the Week honors after defeating Kansas and securing the team's win at the annual Sunflower Showdown.
Â
"I am very excited to be back and see rowing from the coaching side!" Ryan said. "This year will be exciting for our team with a strong returning team and a promising incoming class. I'm looking forward to being a part of it."
Â
Ryan was named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team three times, twice to the first team, and was a three-time varsity letter winner.
