Wildcats Near the End of Fall Tennis Schedule

Two Wildcats will compete in the ITA, three more in a tournament hosted at Baylor
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team continues the fall with two tournaments as two Wildcats were selected for the ITA Central Sectional Championship and three more women will compete in the H-E-B Invitational.

Junior Maralgoo Chogsomjav and sophomore Chanel Rustemova qualified to compete in the Central Sectional starting on Thursday through Sunday (November 6-9) in College Station, Texas, at Mitchell Tennis Center hosted by Texas A&M. This is a consecutive trip for Chogsomjav who competed in doubles with Maria Santos last year.

Chogsomjav will compete in both singles and doubles, with Rustemova. Starting Thursday morning in doubles action, the duo will face Iowa State's Maria Alberto and Stanislava Shulzhenko at 9 a.m. CT. Chogsomjav will then compete against Maria Sholokhova from Wisconsin-Madison at 12 p.m.

Three more Cats, freshman Martaa Chogsomjav, junior Margaret Jaraczewski and freshman Diana Smolinska, will partake in the H-E-B Invitational in Waco, Texas, starting on Friday (November 7) at Hurd Tennis Center, hosted by Baylor. Other schools set to compete include Iowa State, Kansas, Texas A&M and TCU.

The team previously competed in the ITA Central Regional Championship on October 16-19 in Norman, Okla. During four days of competition, both Chogsomjav sisters reached the singles main draw second round, while Maralgoo and Rustemova reached the doubles round of 16. Smolinska went 3-1 in singles matches, her one loss leaving her shy of the main draw.
