Bernat Selected to Compete in Arnold Palmer Cup

Apr 29, 2025 | Women's Golf

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior women's golfer Carla Bernat has been selected to compete for Team International in the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday during Golf Central on GOLF Channel.

This is the third-straight season Bernat is a member of Team International for the Palmer Cup, a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's university/college golfers matching the United States against a team of international players. Bernat is one of 12 players on the women's side of Team International that will compete June 5-7 at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

This is the second-straight season that the Wildcats will have both a player and coach on Team International as Stew Burke is the co-head coach.

"We are delighted to have Carla on Team International for the Arnold Palmer Cup," Burke said. "She brings great experience to the team and the versatility to be paired with numerous other players on both the men's and women's side. For me personally, it will be my last time acting as her coach in a team setting, so it will be a special send off. Team International is stacked with elite talent, and to have K-State represented again this year proves what we are building in Manhattan."

Bernat has put together an outstanding senior season for the Wildcats, holding a scoring average of 70.09, nearly a shot per round better than the school record she set a year ago. She has not finished outside of the top 20 in any of her 11 events this season and never finished a tournament over par. She helped the Wildcats advance to their first postseason appearance since 2017 as K-State competes in the NCAA Lexington Regional next Monday through Wednesday.

Ranked 20th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), Bernat captured the 2025 Augusta National Women's Amateur title by carding a 12-under par 204, including a round of 4-under par 68 during the final round held at Augusta National Golf Club.

The Arnold Palmer Cup was co-founded by Arnold Palmer and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and began at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida, in 1997. The Palmer Cup has been played at some of the world's greatest courses, including The Old Course at St. Andrews, The Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Baltusrol, The Honors Course, Cherry Hills, and Lahinch. Beginning with the 2018 matches at Evian Resort Golf Club, the Palmer Cup is the only major tournament that features men and women playing side-by-side as partners.

Since its inception, over 245 former Arnold Palmer Cup alumni have gone on to earn cards on the PGA, DP World, or LPGA Tours; 46 have represented Europe or the USA in the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, or Solheim Cup and more than 95 have claimed over 435 victories on the PGA, DP World, or LPGA Tours. The United States leads the Palmer Cup series, 15-12-1.

The Arnold & Winnie Palmer Foundation supports the Palmer Cup, which provides a platform for perpetuating Arnold Palmer's commitment to youth character development and the growth of amateur/collegiate golf. For more information, please visit www.arnoldpalmercup.com.
