Wildcats Wrap Up Regular Season Hosting Ward Haylett Invitational

K-State will participate in the one home meet of the season on Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams will wrap up the outdoor regular season on Friday (May 9) by hosting the Ward Haylett Invitational at R.V. Christian Track. Admission is free and open to the public.

Other competing teams include Kansas, Nebraska, Central Missouri, Fort Hays State, Washburn and more.

Competition begins at 1:30 p.m. with the women's javelin throw and men's hammer throw. Track events start at 4:40 p.m. with the women's 4x100 relay. Senior recognition for 17 Wildcats will take place after the men's 4x400 relay, prior to 8 p.m.

The Cats last competed in the Drake Relays on April 23-26, featuring four event winners. On the first two days of competition senior Emil Uhlin competed in the men's decathlon where he finished 4th with a personal best of 7,788 points, the no. 2 best score in the Big 12 and no. 6 score in the NCAA.

At the Blue Oval two women won on the track; sophomore Vienna Lahner in the women's 1,500 meters university unseeded race in 4:22.37 and junior Safhia Hinds in the women's 400 meter hurdles university race in 58.04 seconds.

Two men found success in the field events; sophomore Riley Marx won the men's javelin throw championship section with his first throw of 70.65m (231' 9"). Sophomore Pierson Carlisle won the men's pole vault university event, clearing 5.02m (16' 5 ½") on his first attempt.
