Lindstrom Ties for First, Cats Finish Second in Git-R-Done Invitational
Sep 23, 2025 | Men's Golf
LINCOLN, Neb. – Thanks to another round in the 60s, Kansas State senior men's golfer Alex Lindstrom earned individual co-champion honors to guide the Wildcats to a second-place finish following the final round of the Git-R-Done Invitational on Tuesday held at the par-71, 7,077-yard Firethorn Golf Club.
Â
The first-place finish was the first in Lindstrom's K-State career as the Hutchinson Community College transfer posted a score of 13-under par 200 – tied for the fifth-best 54-hole score in school history – to collect the 46th individual championship in school history.
Â
As a team, K-State maintained its second-place position on the team leaderboard with a final-round score of 5-under par 279 to produce a 54-hole score of 12-under par 840, tied for the 15th-best 54-hole score in school history. K-State has now finished in the top five in each of its first three events, the first time accomplishing that feat since 2022.
Â
Kansas State edged Big 12 foe Iowa State for second place by two shots, while Nebraska picked up the team title on its home course by carding a 29-under par 823.
Â
"It was a very solid week for us overall," head coach Grant Robbins said. "Our guys competed well. You just have to tip your hat to Nebraska – the level of golf they played was phenomenal. I don't think many teams could have beaten them this week."
Â
Lindstrom, a native of Halmstad, Sweden, turned in a final-round score of 3-under par 68. The senior produced five birdies on the day, as he tied for first in the 66-man field with 18 birdies over the three rounds in addition to ranking first with a 3.73 scoring average on the par 4s. Lindstrom's previous best 54-hole score at K-State was a 206 in his first event with the program, the 2023 Wildcat Invitational.
Â
"I am really proud of Alex," Robbins said. "He was in total control all day and hit some quality shots, especially down the stretch. I am happy to see him get his first Division I win."
Â
Senior transfer Shea Harmeson also posted a number in red figures on Tuesday as he carded a 4-under par 67 to improve 27 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 26th place at 3-over par 216. The Traverse City, Michigan, native had six birdies on the day, including four over a seven-hole stretch from Nos. 2 through 8. His final-round total was one shot shy of his career low, which came in September 2023 and twice last spring while playing at Saginaw Valley State.
Â
Sophomore Fionn Dobbin and freshman Oliver Toyer finished in a tie for eighth place at 2-under par 211. Dobbin tallied an even-par final round thanks to a bogey-free and 2-under par back 9. Toyer, who was competing as an individual, posted a score of 1-over par 72 in the final round.
Â
Freshman Ville Virkkala tied for 18th place at 1-over par 214 with a final-round score of 2-over par 73. Sophomore Erik Sabelström Holmberg recorded a 54-hole score of 10-over par 223 to tie for 52nd place.
Â
"We have another quick turnaround," said Robbins. "I am looking forward to getting home for a couple of days and preparing for a great test at the Blessings."
Â
Kansas State is back in action next Monday through Wednesday when the Wildcats compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational held at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
