Myers Tabbed Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

MANHATTAN, Kan. – After a career-best 27 kills in K-State's five-set victory over ranked North Carolina, senior outside hitter and opposite Shaylee Myers was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Myers, who garnered her first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award and second Conference weekly accolade of her career, powered K-State to a perfect 2-0 weekend, taking down then-No. 25 North Carolina and East Carolina.

The Lincoln, Nebraska product etched her name in the record books Friday night against the Tar Heels, as she became the sixth player in K-State's rally-scoring era to record 27 kills in a single match. With her 23 kills against ECU, Myers now has four career matches with 20 or more kills, including three this season. Her career-best 27 kills ties fourth in program history for most kills in a five-set match during the rally-scoring era, while also ranking third-most by any Big 12 player this season.

Myers finished Week 4 play as the Big 12 leader in both kills per set (5.00) and points per set (5.75), standing as the only player in the league to average over five kills per set. Across the two matches, she totaled 57.5 points on 50 kills, five aces, four blocks, nine digs, and a .349 hitting efficiency on 106 swings.

Myers currently leads the conference and ranks sixth nationally in both kills per set (4.96) and points per set (5.54) for the season, having logged double-digit kills in all but one match this year.

Big 12 play gets underway on Friday at 6:30 p.m., when the Wildcats (7-1) host Arizona (6-3) at Morgan Family Arena before facing No. 8 Arizona State (7-2) on Sunday with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m.
