K-State Set to Co-Host MountainView Collegiate
Mar 19, 2026 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Coming off consecutive top-five finishes, the 33rd-ranked Kansas State women's golf team co-hosts the MountainView Collegiate, Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,405-yard Preserve Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.
The Wildcats, who host the event along with Missouri, are looking to defend their title after winning last year's edition by 10 shots at 4-over par 868.
"We are really looking forward to playing at our home away from home," said head coach Stew Burke. "The golf course is in great shape and will reward good ballstriking. It is playing extremely different from the last few years due to the heat we will experience, so it will be important to plot our way around in the practice round and not rely on memories of the past. We have focused a lot on our short game and strategy coming in, so I am excited to see where we end up come the end of the week."
This is the 27th edition of the MountainView Collegiate, an event that has been contested every year since 1999 with the exception of the COVID season of 2020. There have been 19 different winners of the event, which includes three victories by Iowa State and Texas Tech, and two apiece by K-State, Arizona and Nebraska.
Coming off 10 days of practice since a fourth-place showing in the Yale Invitational West, K-State is looking to build upon its six top-five finishes this season, which is tied for sixth in school history, and its three top-three showings, which are tied for seventh.
The MountainView Collegiate features four teams ranked in the top 50 of the National Collegiate Golf Rankings in No. 25 Iowa State, No. 32 Houston, No. 33 K-State and No. 34 Missouri. The rest of the field includes Cincinnati, Colorado State, Iowa, Long Beach State, Marshall, Nebraska, North Texas, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UTSA, Wichita State and Wisconsin.
For the fourth time this season and third in the last four events, K-State will utilize the scoring lineup of senior Noa van Beek, junior Julia Ballester Barrio, sophomores Kelsey Chen and Nanami Nakashima along with freshman Keen Visavapattamawan. Additionally, junior Alenka Navarro and freshmen Stalee Fields and Casey Kang will compete as individuals.
A native of Oene, Netherlands, van Beek leads the team with a 71.74 scoring average, which would rank third in school history if she had two more rounds played to qualify. She has four top-10 finishes this season – featured by a win at the Westbrook Invitational in late February – and seven in her career, which includes a tie for seventh place at last year's MountainView Collegiate. Her career scoring average of 73.87 currently ranks third in program history.
Chen and Nakashima are tied for second on the team with a scoring average of 72.09 as each have recorded 1,658 strokes over 23 rounds played, which would tie for fourth in program history with two more rounds to be eligible.
Chen, a native of Dalian, China, has a pair of top-five showings this year, highlighted by a tie for first place at the Puerto Rico Classic to open the spring. A native of Kani, Japan, Nakashima also has a victory this season by closing out the fall with a win at the Powercat Invitational.
A native of Bangkok, Thailand, Visavapattamawan holds a 74.00 scoring average and has notched four top-20 finishes during her rookie campaign. Ballester Barrio is right behind her with a 74.55 scoring average this season.
Navarro and Fields are making their first appearances since the Powercat Invitational to close out the fall. Navarro, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, carries a 73.94 career scoring average to rank fourth in school history as she makes her third start of the season. A product of Fort Worth, Texas, Fields is seeing action for a fifth time this season and holds a 75.08 scoring average over 12 rounds.
Kang is playing in a second-straight event as she was part of the scoring lineup for the Yale Invitational West. The Lanzhou, China, native recorded her lowest 54-hole score of 222 in that event, while her best finish was a tie for 16th place in the Powercat Invitational.
K-State begins play at the MountainView Collegiate on Friday with tee times off No. 10 beginning at 7:30 a.m. (MST). Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
