CAREER: Played in 16 career games, seeing more time at wide receiver as a senior.
2021: Saw action in nine games, including each of the final six contests... Served primarily as a blocking receiver, but did haul in a pass in the regular-season finale at Texas and in the Texas Bowl against LSU... His catch against the Tigers went for 24 yards and set up a field goal attempt at the end of the first half.
2020: Played in six games – including each of the final four contests – as both a reserve wide receiver and on special teams… Had a tackle on kickoff coverage at Baylor.
2019: Did not see any game action.
2018: Played in the UTSA game but did not record any statistics.
2017: Redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played for Rock Canyon under head coach Brian Lamb… Totaled 71 receptions for 899 yards and 12 touchdowns during his prep career… Best season came as a junior in 2015 when he hauled in 67 catches for 840 yards and 11 scores en route to all-conference honors… Set the school record for receptions.
PERSONAL: Eric Joseph Hommel was born April 15, 1999, in Plano, Texas… Son of Jeff and Shelly Hommel… Has one brother, Ryan… Majoring in professional strategic selling.
