Lee Scott is in his first season as the men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach at Kansas State in 2026-27 after being hired by head coach Casey Alexander on April 13.
“My family and I are happy to be joining Coach Alexander here at K-State,” said Scott. “I’m really grateful that he trusts me with this area of his program. I’m excited to be helping him build something special here, creating a culture and an environment where people can be proud of the product that we’re able to put out there.”
Scott spent the last three seasons (2023-26) on Alexander’s staff at Belmont as director of sports performance. He was part of 68 wins, including 41 in conference play, as the Bruins transitioned from the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) to Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) while extending their streak of 20-win seasons to 16.
This past season, Scott helped Belmont win 26 games and capture their first-ever Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship.
Scott played a part in the development of a Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year (Tyler Lundblade), eight all-conference selections (three first team picks), three all-newcomer team honorees, three all-freshman team members and two all-defensive team selections.
Scott came to Belmont in 2023 after nine years (2015-23) at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, including the last seven (2017-23) leading the Islanders’ strength and conditioning program as an assistant athletic director for sports performance.
Scott was part of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi’s back-to-back Southland Conference championships (2022, 2023) in men’s basketball under current Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz which included consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and a victory in the 2023 First Four over SE Missouri State.
The Islanders also claimed the 2023 Southland Conference All-Sports trophy for women’s sports with championships in basketball, tennis and beach volleyball.
Prior to joining the staff at TAMUCC, Scott served as the head strength and conditioning coach at Division II Texas A&M-Kingsville, where he oversaw strength and conditioning for all 12 athletic teams. He designed and implemented programs for every team at TAMUK, and helped the Javelinas collect conference championships in basketball and men’s track in 2014. In addition, the TAMUK men’s track team finished fourth in the nation.
Previously, Scott worked at Houston’s Downtown Club at the Met as a group exercise instructor and personal trainer. In addition, he designed a plyometric and strength program for the John Lucas Camp in Houston. He also spent a year working at the YMCA in Victoria, Texas, for a year in the same position he held at the Downtown Club.
Scott began his athletics career at his alma mater Midwestern State. As a graduate assistant, he crafted and carried out offseason conditioning programs for the MSU women’s basketball team. He also designed and implemented the walk-on/redshirt football program for the Mustangs and assisted in the strength and conditioning for football, men’s basketball and softball.
Scott was a placekicker at Northwestern State (2005-07) and Midwestern State (2008-09), where he was part of a conference championship team in 2009.
Scott was one of four kickers chosen to participate in the national combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. He also played semiprofessionally in the Arena Football League for the Houston Stallions and Corpus Christi Fury.
A native of Elgin, Texas, Scott earned his bachelor’s degree in sports and fitness management from Midwestern State in 2009 before earning a master’s degree in exercise physiology from the school in 2011.
Scott and his wife, Julie, are the parents of two daughters – Hattie and Sadie.
