Riggs Abner is in his first season as a graduate student manager for head coach Casey Alexander at Kansas State.
A native of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Abner played collegiately at both Tennessee State (2021-24) and NAIA Cumberland (2024-26) after graduating from Green Hill High School in 2021.
Abner played in 48 of 57 games in his two seasons playing for Phoenix head coach Eric Evans II, which included eight starts. His best season came in 2025-26 when he averaged 6.3 points on 42 percent shooting with 4.0 rebounds in 17.9 minutes per game. He was named the Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 27 after he grabbed a double-double in the season-opening win over Oakwood. He scored in double figures in 5 games, including a season-high 14 points at Georgia Gwinnett on Nov. 12, 2025.
Abner started his playing career at Tennessee State where he logged three seasons (2021-24) for head coach Brian “Penny” Collins. He was redshirt in 2021-22 before playing in 27 games across the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. He was part of 36 wins his last two seasons, including 20 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while averaging 1.4 points on 41.9 percent shooting with 1.0 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game.
Abner finished his bachelor's degree in physical education and athletic coaching at Cumberland in May 2026. He is pursuing a master’s degree in college student personnel at K-State.
Abner is engaged to Kylee Chua.
