Regarded as one of the most dynamic football players in school history, Terence Newman electrified fans playing for Bill Snyder from 1999-2002. A two-time All-Big 12 selection, Newman put together an unforgettable senior season in 2002, earning consensus All-American honors as a cornerback and returner while also earning 1st-team and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors. He also won the 2002 Jim Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation’s top defensive back. Newman was also a two-time All-American while competing for K-State Track & Field, winning two Big 12 Championships with a school record 6.62 in the Indoor 60-meters and 10.20 in the Outdoor 100-meters, two marks that still stand. In 2003, Newman became the second-highest draft pick in school history as the #5 overall selection in the first round of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Newman has played for over 15 years in the NFL, earning two Pro Bowl selections.
