MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Laurie Koehn made five 3-pointers and scored 27overall as Kansas State beat Kent State 93-65 Friday night in the first roundof the NCAA tournament.
Kansas State (25-7) the third-seeded team in the Mideast Regional, shot 59percent in the first half and was not threatened after taking a 48-29 lead atthe break.
The Wildcats went on a 6-0 run with 12:28 remaining in the first half andfollowed it with a 14-3 run to roll to their first second-round appearance in19 years.
Kent State (20-11), seeded 14th, trailed by as many as 35 points as it'ssix-game winning streak ended.
Nicole Ohlde and Kendra Wecker added 22 points each for Kansas State. AndreaCsaszar had 25 points, Katalin Kollat 13 and Valerie Zona 11 for Kent State.
Kansas State will play Arkansas on Sunday in the second round.
