MANHATTAN, Kan.– The Kansas State women's golf team will be represented by sophomore Darby Deans and freshman Heather Fortushniak this Monday and Tuesday, as they compete in the inaugural UT Arlington Invitational at the par-72, 6,095-yard Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, Texas.
The two-day invitational consists of 54 holes, with 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 holes being played on Tuesday. An 8:30 a.m., shotgun start is scheduled for both days.
Deans, a native of Frisco, Texas, will be competing in her second event of the season as she previously played in the Mary Fossum invitational, carding a 35-over par 251 to tie for 87th place. A product of Brighton, Michigan, Fortushniak will be making her Kansas State debut.
"This is a great competitive opportunity for Darby and Heather," head coach Kristi Knight said. "Not only that, it will also provide experience and give them feedback on the practice they have been putting in. I am looking forward to seeing them play."
Deans and Fortushniak will be competing as individuals in a tournament field that includes host school UT Arlington as well as Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Incarnate Word, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southern Utah and Stephen F. Austin.
