MANHATTAN, Kan. – The 31st-ranked K-State women's tennis team will head to the state of Texas for a pair of Big 12 road matches over the weekend, beginning with a Friday meeting at TCU before traveling to face No. 16 Texas Tech on Sunday.

K-State (11-4, 1-1 Big 12) split its first two conference matches of the season, defeating No. 28 Baylor, 4-3, before falling to 12th-ranked Texas, 4-0, at home. The Wildcats earned their first victory over Baylor since 2011.

Three Wildcats – Maria Linares, Rosanna Maffei, Ines Mesquita – lead the team with nine singles victories in the spring season. As a team, K-State is 51-30 (.630) in singles play and all eight players on the roster are .500 or better.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Carolina Costamagna and Margot Decker lead the team with 10 wins and are 1-1 in Big 12 play. In total, the Cats are 24-16 (.600) in spring doubles action.

The Cats will meet TCU (9-6, 0-0 Big 12) on Friday at 5:30 p.m., at the Bayard H. Freidman Tennis Center. It will be the Frogs conference opener and they will host 17th-ranked Kansas on Sunday.

TCU, who has not played in 10 days, lost its last outing to No. 3 Duke, 4-0. The Frogs are led by Aleksandra Zenovka, who holds a No. 84 singles ranking while teammate Marie Norris pulls in a No. 114 ranking with a 14-3 record.

On the double side, the Frogs' duo of Donika Bashota and Elizabeth Kennedy hold the team's only doubles ranking at No. 71 with five wins together on the year.

TCU is 8-0 all-time against K-State. This will be the seventh match between the sides played in Fort Worth, with six coming as conference foes.

Texas Tech (10-3, 0-0 Big 12) also commences its Big 12 schedule Friday, as it hosts KU at 5 p.m. K-State and TTU will meet at noon Sunday at the McLeod Tennis Complex.

The Lady Raiders went 1-1 in a pair of home matches last season, sweeping Cornell before falling to No. 6 Georgia Tech, 4-3.

Four players on Tech's roster are in the latest ITA singles rankings. Gabriela Talaba is the nation's ninth-ranked singles player while teammate Felicity Maltby is ranked No. 41. Sabrina Federici (No. 82) and Sarah Dvorak (No. 85) round out the ranked Red Raiders.
