Wildcats Place Six on Academic All-Big 12 Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – For a second-consecutive year, the Kansas State men's golf team had a program-record six Wildcats named to the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 team, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Led by sophomore Ben Fernandez, who was nominated with a 4.0 GPA for a second-straight year, the Wildcats on the list include senior Trent Evans, juniors Jeremy Gandon and Roland Massimino, sophomore Jacob Eklund and redshirt freshman Matthieu Caron. All six members were named to the first team by having a GPA of 3.20 or better calculated over their entire academic careers or the two previous semesters.
Fernandez, a product of Southlake, Texas, was one of four Big 12 men's golfers to be nominated with a 4.0 GPA this year after being the lone to do so last season. Gandon and Massimino were also repeat honorees, while Evans, Eklund and Caron were honored for the first time in their career.
K-State returns to action next week for the 2018 Big 12 Championship, Sunday through Wednesday, at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
