MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Kansas State men's golf team recorded a final-round total of 1-under par 287 as they moved four spots up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for sixth place during the final round of the Michael A. Marino Classic on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,370-yard Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
K-State recorded a 54-hole score of 3-over par 867, tying with No. 47 Little Rock and edging Baylor by two shots. The Wildcats ranked first in the 16-team field by recording the fewest bogeys (36), while they tied for second by going a collective 19-under par on the par 5s.
"I'm really proud of how the guys competed today." head coach Grant Robbins said. "It was a lot colder with the north wind, so we knew the course was going to play tough, which gave us a great opportunity to grind out a solid round and move up the board. Overall, it is a step in the right direction for us. We are taking on that next-shot mentality and showing what we can be capable of if we clean up some of the big numbers. We are going to give the guys a few days off for spring break, which will give us a chance to get some rest, reset and then get to work and prepare for the stretch run."
The Wildcats received a trio of final-round scores of 1-under par 71 on Tuesday from sophomore Fionn Dobbin, senior Alex Lindstrom and freshman Oliver Toyer.
A native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Dobbin recorded his second top-10 finish of the season and third of his career as he tied for eighth place at 5-under par 211. Tuesday's final round included a bogey-free front 9 of 3-under par as he led the 90-man field by going a collective 5-under par on the par 4s, while he tied for fourth with six total bogeys.

Toyer, who hails from Cambridgeshire, England, improved an impressive 22 spots up the leaderboard on Tuesday to a tie for 36th place at 4-over par 220. His outward 9 was solid, recording three birdies with no bogeys. Toyer tied for second in the field with 32 total pars.
Senior JP Roller improved eight spots during the final round, tying for 67th place at 10-over par 226 after a final-round total of 3-over par 74. Freshman Ville Virkkala was one shot back and tied for 74th place.
