Gandon in Contention at Big 12 Championship

TULSA, Okla. – Jeremy Gandon continues to perform at a high level as the Kansas State junior is one shot off the individual lead following the third round of the 2018 Big 12 Championship on Tuesday at the par-70 Southern Hills Country Club.
Gandon finished the day at 1-over par 71 to give him a 54-hole score of 1-over par 211 entering Wednesday's final round. Gandon is just one stroke away from Texas' Doug Ghim and Oklahoma's Grant Hirschman, who are tied for first at even-par 210.
As a team, the Wildcats recorded a 9-over par 297 on Tuesday to move up one spot on the leaderboard to ninth place at 43-over par 883. K-State is four strokes shy of Kansas and within nine strokes of sixth-place TCU.
"Jeremy had another solid round," head coach Grant Robbins said. "He did not have his best stuff today, but he was able to keep himself in contention going into tomorrow. I am proud of our team. We got off to a tough start, but they did a great job of hanging in there and played some really solid golf for the last 12 holes."
Gandon birdied Nos. 2 and 6 but a double-bogey on No. 3 led him to an even-par score at the turn. He parred every hole on the back except for a bogey on No. 13.
Roland Massimino dropped four spots on the individual leaderboard and is tied for 27th at 9-over par 219. He is just two shots away from placing in the top-20.
Ben Fernandez continues to make improvements as he shaved one stroke off his second-round score to move up one spot to 44th at 17-over par 227. JC Campbell and is tied for 46th at 21-over par 231, while Jacob Eklund was 2-over par on Tuesday to give him a 24-over par 234 score.
Oklahoma jumped to first place in the third round of the tournament at 12-over par 852. The third-ranked Sooners lead Iowa State by two strokes and a tie between No. 1 Oklahoma State and No. 14 Texas by six shots.
The final round of the 2018 Big 12 Championship will begin on Wednesday, with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. K-State will tee off beginning at 9:07 a.m., off hole No. 10 and will be paired with West Virginia. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com.
