Wildcats Sign Nicklas Borrmann to NLI
May 29, 2018 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head men's golf coach Grant Robbins announced Tuesday that the Wildcats have signed German amateur Nicklas Borrmann to a National Letter of Intent (NLI). Borrmann joins two other players who have already signed NLIs for the 2018-19 season.
Â
A member of the German Junior National Team, Borrmann is believed to be the first German-born player to sign with the Wildcats.
Â
"We are excited to add Nicklas to our already strong recruiting class," Robbins said. "Nicklas has a great deal of international tournament experience – both on the junior and amateur levels – and he has success competing against some of the best amateurs in Europe. His coaches all speak very highly of him, and he has the passion, desire and work ethic to be very successful on the collegiate level."
Â
A native of Mannheim, Germany, Borrmann most recently finished ninth in the 2017 German Amateur Match Play Championship and 33rd in the 2017 Dutch Amateur. In 2016, Borrmann placed fourth in the German International Boys Championship, 31st in the German International Amateur and advanced to match play in the 2016 British Boys Amateur.
Â
In 2015, he recorded a pair of top-10 finishes in the German International Match Player Championship (seventh) and Spanish Boys Championship (eighth).
Â
Bormann, who attends Geschwister School, joins Ryan Bender (Overland Park, Kansas) and Will Hopkins (Lincolnshire, England) as freshmen for the 2018-19 season.
