McSherry Leads K-State During Final Round

EAST LANSING, Mich.– Kansas State sophomore Niamh McSherry led the Kansas State women's golf team on Sunday by carding a 7-over par 79 during the final round of the Mary Fossum Invitational at the par-72, 6,334-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course.
The Wildcats wrapped up the invitational by carding a 78-over par 942 to finish in 15thplace following a 35-over par 323 during the final round.
"We did not do anything well today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "We did not coach well enough or play well enough. We can – and we will – be better moving forward."
McSherry finished the tournament in 66thplace with a score of 18-over par 234.
Sophomore Reid Isaac finished atop the Kansas State leaderboard, carding a 13-over par 229 to tie for 52ndplace. Following McSherry was the duo of senior Chloe Weir and freshman Briony Bayles as each carded a 24-over par 240 to tie for 74thplace. Sophomore Darby Deans tied for 87that 35-over par 251.
Virginia held its first-place position, winning the invitational by beating tournament host Michigan State by two strokes. The Cavaliers carded a 7-under par 857. Allyson Greer-Park of Michigan State and Anna Redding of Virginia tied in first with a score 9-under par 207.
The Wildcats will be back in action on September 21-23, as they compete at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, South Carolina
