Cats Travel to Lincoln to Face Cornhuskers on Friday

MANHATTAN, Kan.?– K-State will head out to Lincoln, Nebraska, where it will go head-to-head against the Nebraska Cornhuskers inside the Dillion Tennis Center on Friday at 5 p.m.
The Wildcats (2-1) enter the matchup after competing in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Athens, Georgia, where they defeated William & Mary, 4-1, to advance to the championship round. There, the Cats were overtaken by fifth-ranked Georgia, 7-0.
The Huskers (1-3) went to their own ITA Kickoff Weekend, which was held in Durham, North Carolina. The Huskers lost to Old Dominion on the first day, 4-0, and fell to Gonzaga in the consolation round, 4-1.
The Cats and Huskers met last season in Manhattan, with then-No. 42 Nebraska upending 35th-ranked K-State, 4-2. In the match, Margot Decker and Maria Linares accounted for the Cats two points via singles victories. K-State's all-time record against Nebraska is 13-30 overall with a 4-17 mark on the road.
In the spring season, the doubles team of Decker and Anna Turco is 2-1 from the No. 1 position, including team's only victory over the Bulldogs on Saturday. Linares and Ines Mesquita are 1-1 when paired together while freshmen Ioana Gheorghita and Maria Ponomareva are 1-0. Newcomer Karine-Marion Job has paired up with Gheorghita as well, and they have a record of 0-2 as a team.
In singles, Decker, Linares, Mesquita and Turco each own a team-best 2-1 dual record. Overall, the Cats have a team singles record of 10-6 through their first three matches.
