Wildcats Square Off with North Texas, Arizona in Denton

MANHATTAN, Kan. - K-State will be traveling out to Denton, Texas, for a pair of matches this weekend, taking on North Texas on Friday at 2 p.m. before meeting Arizona on Saturday at noon at Waranch Tennis Complex.Â
The Wildcats (3-2) will begin the weekend on Friday against the Mean Green (5-3), who enter the match having won their last three matches after a 7-0 sweep of Western Kentucky last Saturday. North Texas owns a 5-0 record at home this season.Â
North Texas is led by No. 69 Tamuna Kutubidze, who boasts a 7-1 singles record this spring. The Mean Green's duo of Kutubidze and Maria Kononova check in as the 19th-best doubles team in the country and are 2-0 when paired together.Â
K-State is 6-4 all-time against UNT, with the Cats prevailing in each of the last three meetings. Friday's match will mark the fourth straight season the teams have faced one other.Â
On Saturday, K-State will take on the Arizona Wildcats (3-1). Arizona is coming into this weekend after its first loss of the spring, 4-2 at San Diego. Arizona walked away with singles wins from the top two in its lineup over San Diego, led by Camila Wesbrooks at No. 1, who improved to 4-0 this season.Â
K-State is 0-4 all-time against Arizona.Â
After losing 6-1 to the Rice Owls in Houston, K-State's sole victor last weekend was freshman Karine-Marion Job, who pulled out a straight-set win playing at No. 5 singles. The Lyon, France, product improved her record to 3-1 in singles matches.Â
Sophomore Margot Decker and junior Ines Mesquita each have 3-2 singles records while sophomores Maria Linares and Anna Turco are both 2-2 this spring.Â
The Cats' No. 1 doubles tandem of Decker and Turco have a team-best 3-2 mark playing together this spring. Linares and Mesquita are 2-1 at the second doubles position.
