MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State women's basketball junior forward
Peyton Williams was selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District VII Women's Basketball First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
As a first team selection, Williams advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team ballot selected by CoSIDA, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in early March.
As a program, K-State women's basketball has earned 22 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII citations by 14 student-athletes.
Williams, a product of Topeka, Kansas, is a double major in anthropology and international studies with a minor in political science. In the 2017-18 season, Williams was a Google Cloud Academic All-District VII Women's Basketball Second Team selection. Williams also garnered Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors last season and was a 2017 Academic All-Rookie Team selection at the conclusion of her freshman year.
On the floor, the 2019 All-America candidate leads K-State in scoring (14.9 ppg), field goal percentage (.490), free throw percentage (.826) and rebounding (9.8 rpg). Williams needs one point to become the 42nd player in program history with 1,000 or more career points. She will become the fourth player in program history with 1,000 or more career points, 500 or more career rebounds and 75 or more career blocked shots.
Williams is tied for the Big 12 lead in double-doubles this season with 12, leads the league in defensive rebounds per game (6.9 drpg) and ranks second in the league in rebounding at 9.8 per game. She also ranks among the top-10 in the lead in scoring (ninth), field goal percentage (10th), free throw percentage (sixth), steals (eighth and minutes per game (sixth).
