MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State's Ayoka Lee continued her low post dominance in league play last week, as she collected her sixth Big 12 Freshman of the Week honor in an announcement from the league office on Monday.
Lee is tied for fifth in league history with six Big 12 Freshman or Newcomer of the Week honors in a season. She is the seventh player in Big 12 history with six or more freshman of the week honors and the first since Joyner Holmes in the 2016-17 season.
Last week, Lee averaged 12.0 points including a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line, 9.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in the two games.
Against Oklahoma State, Lee tallied her eighth double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds and a steal. Lee ranks second in program history for double-doubles in a freshman season.
Against Texas, she again notched 12 points including eight in the fourth quarter during K-State's rally. Lee was 6-of-6 from the free throw line against the Longhorns. She also hauled in nine rebounds, pocketed a steal and blocked a shot.
Lee continues to lead all Big 12 freshmen in scoring (15.1 ppg), rebounding (10.5 rpg), blocks (2.5 bpg) and is second in field goal percentage (.561) and is third in free throw percentage (.716).
Lee has started her ascent up the K-State freshman rebounding rankings, as she is tied for 13th with 158 boards this season.
Lee is the first K-State freshman with 200 or more points, 150 or more rebounds and 35 or more blocks since Marlies Gipson in the 2005-06 season.
Her field goal percentage of .561 ranks second in program history in a freshman season.
