K-State Forced to Withdraw from Big 12 Match Play Championship

MANHATTAN, Kan. – In accordance with established K-State Athletics health protocols and Big 12 Conference guidelines, the K-State men's golf team has withdrawn from the Big 12 Match Play Championship scheduled to begin Friday at Houston Oaks Golf Club.
K-State earned the No. 7-seed in the event with its finish at the Colonial Collegiate Invitational Tuesday, the first of two events scheduled in the Big 12's Fall Series, but has withdrawn from this weekend's competition after a positive COVID-19 test and the need to quarantine due to close contact.
K-State played with its six-man lineup in two flights of three at Colonial Country Club, part of the Big 12's strategy to minimize contact between teams at the event. Seeding for the Big 12 Match Play Championship was adjusted for nine teams - 1. Oklahoma, 2. Texas, 3. Texas Tech, 4. TCU, 5. Baylor, 6. Kansas, 7. Oklahoma State, 8. West Virginia, 9. Iowa State.
The Wildcats look to resume the 2020-21 campaign in the spring at the Hammock Creek Collegiate (Feb. 21-23) in Palm City, Fla.
