
Four Wildcats Named to Academic All-Big 12 Teams

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State women's basketball placed four student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Teams in an announcement by the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the Big 12 in 1996-97, K-State has earned a league-best 134 Academic All-Big 12 honors including 109 first team citations which also paces the Big 12.
K-State student-athletes to earn Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors were: senior Peyton Williams (anthropology and international studies), sophomore Laura Macke (architectural engineering) and redshirt freshman Ayoka Lee (psychology) and sophomore Alisa Wiggins (kinesiology). Williams was one of three members to be named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team with a 4.0 grade point average.
This was the third career Academic All-Big 12 First Team honor for Williams, while Macke and Lee each earned their first. Williams is a finalist for the 2020 Senior CLASS Award and fans are encouraged to vote online as much as possible at the Senior CLASS Award website (seniorClassaward.com) through March 23.
Last week, Williams was also named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District VII First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
On the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team, K-State's Alisa Wiggins (kinesiology) earned the honor. This was Wiggins's second career Academic All-Big 12 citation.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the women's basketball academic all-league team consisted of 39 first team members combined with 11 on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
