
Williams Garners CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State senior forward Peyton Williams has been selected to the 2020 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Women's Basketball Academic All-America Second Team in an announcement by the organization on Monday.
Williams, a product of Topeka, Kansas, is the seventh player in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. She is the second to earn the honor in the Jeff Mittie era to earn the honor, joining former teammate Shaelyn Martin.
A double major in anthropology and international studies with a minor in political science, Williams is also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. Voting for the Senior CLASS Award continues at seniorclassaward.com until March 23.
During her women's basketball career, Williams has been a heavily decorated student-athlete.
In addition to her three CoSIDA Academic All-District VII honors, Williams was the 2019 Big 12 Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the 2019 Big 12/Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipient, two-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team and 2016-17 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team.
On the floor, the 2020 All-America candidate is averaging 15.4 points, field goal percentage (.465), free throw percentage (.758) and rebounding (11.0 rpg). Williams is second in the league in total rebounds, offensive (3.7 orpg) and defensive (8.2 drpg) rebounds. She also ranks among the top-10 in the league in scoring (10th), field goal percentage (7th), blocks (9th), double-doubles (5th) and minutes played (4th).
For her career, Williams ranks among the top-15 in program history for career points (9th; 1,553), rebounds (3rd; 967), blocks (5th; 119), field goals made (10th; 585) and free throws made (5th; 333). She is the first player in program history with the combination of 1,500 or more points, 900 or more rebounds, 200 or more assists, 150 or more steals and 100 or more blocks.
K-State will prepare for the 2020 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships. The Wildcats are slated as the fifth seed and will face Iowa State on Friday at 11 a.m., in Kansas City at Municipal Auditorium. Friday's game will be broadcast on FSN and will be available on the K-State Sports Network, free at kstatesports.com, and on the K-State Sports app.
