K-State Win Streak at Kansas Snapped on Saturday

LAWRENCE, Kansas – K-State had won seven straight games in Allen Fieldhouse, but Kansas came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to down the Wildcats, 70-63, on Saturday evening.
K-State (5-6, 0-4 Big 12) held a seven-point lead at the half, 29-22, but Kansas (6-5, 2-3 Big 12) used a 25-point third quarter to pull into a 47-45 lead at the end of the stanza. The Jayhawks used an 8-2 run over a two-minute stretch as K-State went without a field goal for seven minutes. Christianna Carr tallied seven of the Wildcats' 16 points in the frame to pace the Wildcats.
The Jayhawks extended their lead to seven, 56-49, with 4:32 remaining in the fourth quarter. K-State closed to within four, 58-54, with 2:02 remaining after a pair of transition layups from Laura Macke. Kansas was able to withstand the K-State defensive pressure late and seal the game from the foul line by going 10-of-12 in the last two minutes.
Carr paced K-State by tying her career-high with 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting. She also added six rebounds including four offensive boards.
Ayoka Lee registered her 22nd career double-double and her third against Kansas, as she finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Lee was 10-of-10 from the foul line. This is the 10th time a Wildcat was perfect from the line with 10 or more attempts.
For the second straight game, K-State held its opponent to single digits in the opening quarter with a 16-7 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Wildcats benefited from a 4-of-6 effort from beyond the arc to build the nine-point lead.
The Wildcats opened up a 14-point lead, 27-13, as Carr connected on her second 3-pointer of the first half and Lee putback an offensive rebound and then converted a pair of free throws with 4:01 remaining.
K-State's Jada Moore ended the run with a layup with 1:04 remaining to send K-State into the locker room with a 29-22 lead at the half. Carr and Lee led K-State in the opening half with eight and six points, respectively.
For the game, K-State shot 37.7 percent (20-of-53) from the field. After starting the game 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, the Wildcats were 3-of-16 to end the game and finish at 31.6 percent (6-of-19).
Kansas tallied a 39.2 percent (20-of-51) effort from the field and registered an 89.3 percent (25-of-28) effort from the free throw line.
