OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Following K-State's run to the semifinal round of the 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship, Zach Kokoska and Eric Torres were named to the conference's all-tournament team, the league office announced Sunday night.
In five games, Kokoska produced a slash line of .421/.500/.737 with three doubles, a home run and six RBI. Kokoska recorded a hit in each postseason contest, including three multi-hit efforts. The junior outfielder homered in Thursday's 9-4 victory over Baylor in addition to two doubles and two RBI in the Cats' final game against TCU.
Torres appeared three times in relief, totaling 6 2/3 scoreless innings in the tournament. Torres scattered three hits while striking out 14. In a 5-2 victory over TCU in Saturday's elimination game, he set career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts, logging 4 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts in picking up the win.
Kokoska and Torres are the program's first Big 12 All-Tournament Team selections since 2011 and the 10th and 11th all-time. It's just the third time, and first since 2008, that multiple Wildcats were voted to the all-tournament squad.
The Wildcats (34-23) reached the semifinal round of the conference tournament for the first time since 2008, when the Cats reached the Big 12 title game. K-State went 3-2 in this year's Big 12 Championship, picking up victories over No. 5 Texas Tech, No. 8 TCU and Baylor.
The NCAA will reveal the postseason field Monday at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN2.
