The Wildcats return home for a 2-day meet on Friday and Saturday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State track and field team will return home to Manhattan on Friday (January 21) and Saturday (January 22) for the Austra Skujyte Women's Pentathlon, Steve Fritz Men's Heptathlon and DeLoss Dodds Invitational at the Ahearn Field House.

Friday's events will begin at 10 a.m. CT with the women's pentathlon 60-meter hurdles and Saturday will kick off at 8:30 a.m. CT with the men's heptathlon 60-meter hurdles.

"We got a group back that was unable to compete last weekend, but unfortunately we lost another group to positive or close contact," stated Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Cliff Rovelto. "We still have a sizable group competing and I think everyone is realizing that any opportunity to compete is a big positive. In these times, we can't take anything for granted and must appreciate and take advantage of the opportunities we have."

The Wildcats competed at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Friday (January 14) where the team took home their third straight Triangular title with a score of 246 points, six points higher than second-place Kansas. Fifth-year senior Tejaswin Shankar earned his second straight "High Point Scorer" award, as the New Delhi native scored 21 points throughout four events.

Shankar was the overall winner in the men's triple jump (15.51m/50-10.75), placed second in the men's long jump (7.20m/23-7.50), earned second in the mixed 4x400-meter relay, (3:32.55) and came in third for the men's 60-meter hurdles (8.22).

Before the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular, the Wildcats had not competed since December 11 at the K-State Winter Invitational at the Ahearn Field House. K-State was originally scheduled to host the Wildcat Invitational on January 8 but canceled the meet due to various circumstances.
