
Lee Named to Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year Watch List

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State junior center Ayoka Lee continues to add to her trophy case, as she has been named a candidate for the 2022 Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.
Lee has been a defensive stalwart for the Wildcats this season, as she leads the Big 12 in blocked shots (66) and leads K-State in steals (27). She is second in the nation for total blocked shots with 66 and is third in the nation and the league leader in blocks per game with 3.47. Lee's 66 blocks this season rank seventh in school history for blocks in a season.
The center from Byron, Minnesota, has eight games with four or more blocks this season, including a Big 12 season-high of eight blocks against North Dakota State on Nov. 29.
Lee's career blocks total stands at 206, which ranks third in program history. Her career blocks per game of 2.82 is the highest in school history and ranks fifth in Big 12 history.
Her 27 steals this season are a career season-high. She ranks 14th in the Big 12 for steals per game. Lee has tallied two or more steals in eight games this season.
Lee is the only player in the nation with 475 or more points, 200 or more rebounds and 60 or more blocked shots.
The 25th-ranked Wildcats will make a midweek stop in Austin, Texas, as the Wildcats face (9/14) Texas tonight at 7 p.m. The game will be available on Longhorn Network.
