Tennis to Cap Fall Season at Big 12 Invitational

Wildcats are on the court for the last time before the spring season
The Kansas State women's tennis team will cap off their fall season at the Big 12 Fall Invitational beginning on Friday (November 4) hosted by Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The three-day tournament (Friday-Sunday, November 4-6) will include singles and doubles main draw starting at the round of 16 and will include eight of the 10 Big 12 schools (Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and West Virginia).
Four Wildcats will compete in singles draws, including senior Rosanna Maffei, sophomore Florentine Dekkers and freshman Rozalia Gruszczynska and Vanesa Suarez.
On Friday, Dekkers will first face Oklahoma State's Sofia Rojas at 1 p.m., CT, Maffei will meet Baylor's Paula Baranano at 2:45 p.m., CT, Gruszczynska will go against Kansas' Silvia Maria Coastache at 3 p.m., CT with Suarez rounding out the first round at 3:45 p.m., CT against Kylin Sadler of Kansas.
There will be two doubles teams consisting of Maffei/Gruszcznska and Dekkers/Suarez.
Both doubles matches start at 10 a.m., CT on Friday with Dekkers and Suarez facing Oklahoma State's Ayumi Miyamoto and Kristina Novak, while Maffei and Gruszczynska will compete against Iowa State's Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas.
In the last tournament, the ITA Central Region Championships, Gruszczynska fought back in the consolation bracket making it to the final draw where she was eventually defeated by Iowa State's Miska Kadleckova to finish as runner-up.
Last season during the Big 12 Fall Invitational, Maffei competed in the main draw finals match before dropping her sets to Baylor's Alina Shcherbinina and earning a runner-up finish.
All matches will be live streamed on the Oklahoma State Tennis site.
