Creighton Duel Marks Next Stop For K-State

Apr 22, 2022 | Rowing

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's rowing team will move to Omaha, Nebraska for the Creighton Duel on Sunday (April 24) at Carter Lake.

Races will begin every 10 minutes with the 1v8+ at 8:00 a.m., 2v8+ at 8:10 a.m., 1v4+ at 8:20 a.m., 2v4+ at 8:30 a.m. and finally the 3v8+ at 8:40 a.m. Inclement weather is expected throughout the weekend. Changes to race times may occur and will be communicated as soon as possible.

"Coming off a successful weekend at SIRAs, we're ready for a quick turn-around back into competition," said head coach Patrick Sweeney. "We expect this weekend to be a good test for our team. Creighton has started their season strong and that has set us up for some solid racing."

Thus far this season, K-State has made appearances at the Hornet Invitational, the Sunshine State Invitational and, most recently, the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Championships.

The Wildcats walked away from the SIRA Championships with three gold medals by the 3v8+, 1v4+ and the 1v8+. The 2v4+ also walked away with a silver medal.

At the Sunshine State Invitational, the squad collected two silver medals. The medals came from the 3v8+ and the 1v4+.

After the Creighton Duel, the Wildcats will head to Kansas City to take on in state rival Kansas for the Dillons Sunflower Showdown on Saturday (April 30). Following the Sunflower Showdown, K-State will make their final regular season appearance at the 2022 Big 12 Rowing Championships on Sunday (May 15) in Austin, Texas.
