
K-State Reaches Quarters of Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals

MANHATTAN, Kansas – K-State women's basketball reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts on May 13-15. This is the second straight season the Wildcats reached the quarterfinal round of the event.
K-State's representatives at the event were junior Taylor Lauterbach, and sophomores Brylee Glenn, Jaelyn Glenn and Serena Sundell.
Played on a half court with a 10-minute clock and a 12-second shot clock, the first team to 21 points, or the team in the lead at the end of regulation, is the winner. Participating teams earned their spots in the 2022 Red Bull USA Basketball 3X Nationals either through Red Bull USA Basketball 3X regional qualifying tournaments last fall or via an at-large invitation from USA Basketball.
K-State opened Pool B play on Friday, May 13, against Texafornia which featured former All-Big 12 selection and Baylor grad Lauren Cox. The Wildcats were downed 16-9 in its opener, as Jaelyn Glenn paced the K-State scoring with four points.
The Wildcats started Saturday Pool B play early in the morning against Stanford. K-State had a better offensive output, opening the first four minutes of the game tied at 7. A 5-2 run over the next three minutes gave Stanford the margin it needed for a 19-14 win. Jaelyn Glenn registered eight points, while Serena Sundell added the additional six points.
K-State secured its win in Pool B with a 17-14 decision over Seattle Force 10 on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats dashed out to a 7-1 lead in the first three minutes. K-State upped its margin to 12-5 with five minutes left in the 10-minute game. The Wildcats held off any comeback from Seattle Force 10 and won 17-14. Jaelyn Glenn led the Wildcats with eight points, while Brylee Glenn added five points and Sundell chipped in with three.
In its quarterfinal game against Rain City Force 10 on Sunday morning, Lauterbach led the Wildcats with five points, while Jaelyn Glenn added two but the veteran Pool A champions were too much for K-State as the Wildcats ended their time in Springfield with a 21-8 loss.
In total, Jaelyn Glenn averaged 5.5 points per game, while Sundell added 3.0 per game. Brylee Glenn and Lauterbach each averaged 1.8 per game.
