Wray Strikes Again as Wildcats Earn Six First Place Finishes in DeLoss Dodds

The DeLoss Dodds continues tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams recorded six first-place finishes in 10 events on the first day of the DeLoss Dodds Invitational on Friday (January 20) at Ahearn Field House.
Junior Shalysa Wray broke another meet record in back-to-back meets, winning the 300 meter hurdles with her new personal best time of 37.80 seconds. In the same event, junior O'Shalia Johnson (2nd; 38.93) and freshman Twaneise Johnson (3rd; 40.59), in her first attempt, also recorded new bests.
Freshman Claire Bybee won the women's pole vault event with her new personal best height of 3.90m/12-9.5. Junior Jesse Pinkley won the men's pole vault, tying his personal best in last year's DeLoss Dodds Invitational with a height of 5.00m/16-6.75. Junior Vitoria Alves won the 60 meter hurdles for the second time this season in 8.50 seconds. Sophomore Emil Uhlin was the only runner in the men's 60 meter hurdles, recording a time of 8.67 seconds. Junior Tim Lambert Jr. won the men's 300 meter dash at 35.17 seconds.
The women's weight throw had stacked competition as five Wildcats competed in the event. Sophomore Monique Hardy (2nd; 19.24m/63-1.5) and junior Emma Robbins (3rd; 19.24m/63-1.5) rounded out the top-three.
Multiple athletes recorded personal bests; junior Charlotte Cattermole-Williams recorded her new weight throw best at 16.80m/55-1.5. Junior Urte Bacianskaite ran the 60 meter hurdles in 9.11 seconds, while freshman Delaney Wright also ran a new best in the event at 9.263, from her previous and first attempt at 9.68 seconds. In his first attempt at 300 meters, freshman Nicolas-Jean Moulin finished second with a time of 35.81, while senior Jack Pakkebier also ran his first 300 meters in 36.90, finishing third.
The Invitational continues Saturday (January 21) with the Dani Winters women's shot put starting the field events at 10 a.m. CT, the track events at 12 p.m. CT with the women's mile run. Admission is free and open to the public.
