Track and Field Heads to Lubbock for Texas Tech Open & Multis

The heptathlon events will start the day 12 p.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams head down to Lubbock, Texas for the three day Texas Tech Open & Multis from Thursday (January 26) to Saturday (January 28) at the Sports Performance Center.

The pentathlon and heptathlon events start on Thursday, one Wildcat participating in both, junior Urte Bacianskaite in the pentathlon and sophomore Emil Uhlin in the heptathlon. Four heptathlon events will take place Thursday starting at 12 p.m. CT, the pentathlon beginning at 12:20 p.m. CT.

Bacianskaite last competed in a pentathlon in the first meet of the season at the Carol Robinson Women's Winter Pentathlon (December 9) where she scored her new personal-best of 3,785 points.

Uhlin recorded his heptathlon personal-best of 5,639 points at the Big 12 Indoor Championships last year when he finished third.

On Monday (January 23) the first USTFCCCA indoor season rankings were announced, and in the national rankings host Texas Tech was featured with the men at No. 2 and women at No. 10.

Other top-10 ranked schools participating in the meet include the Auburn men at No. 6, the Georgia women at No. 6, the Nebraska men at No. 10 and the Texas women at No. 1.

The Wildcats are coming off a strong performance at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational (January 20-21) highlighted by junior Shalysa Wray breaking another meet record in the 300 meter dash at 37.80 seconds.
