FROM THE HEAD COACH
K-State Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On three-point attempts...
"We wanted to get (Taiyanna) Jackson out of the paint as much as we could. We wanted to draw her out there. We knew that Sarah (Shematsi) has been been getting that kind of attention. We had moments where we were pretty good in that and moments where we've still got to grow in that area. But yeah, the game plan was to try to get Jackson away. You have to knock a few shots down. Sarah did that and got her away from there. It did open up some things for us, but Kansas is a really good team. They played really physical with us. I thought they played very good. They attacked our press really aggressively. This was a tight ballgame all the way to the last four or five minutes. And we just didn't make the plays down the stretch."
FROM THE FLOOR
Gabby Gregory, K-State Senior Guard
On slow starts...
"We've been talking about it for three weeks and we have got to come out beginning of games better. Yeah, like you said, we just keep talking about it. But I mean, it's just on us. We just have to change it. We got to come out at the beginning of the games ready to fight. We fight later on. But by that point, I mean, we've dug a hole so big that we got to come out early against good teams like this."
On second half runs coming up short...
"I don't think it's fatigue. I think it's just I think maybe mental focus. Letting like when we get into runs, I think we need to do a better job playing off our emotion and our fight that we've been giving. I think that we're allowing the other team to go on runs and kind of just hit us and we're not hitting back as hard as we should. I think it's just mental focus locking in knowing that it's a one-point game we got to go out and fight now. Not let them get threes not let them get it inside."
On the team's confidence...
"I'm always confident. I'm extremely confident in my team. We're still the same team to be Iowa. So I mean, it's just really locking in and focusing. We got to come out and start games better. We've shown that we can fight we just got to fight for 40 minutes instead of the last 30 minutes. So I think if we can get that figured out. I mean, we can play with anybody in the country. So I'm extremely confident in our team."
Jaelyn Glenn, K-State Sophomore Guard
On the defensive game plan...
"Defensively, we're in our our zone. We knew what we had to do in order to stop them and they kind of just exploited our defense and got what they wanted. And we just needed to stop them from doing that make them adjust."
