K-State to Compete at Big 12 Indoor Championships

Meet starts tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the multi events
LUBBOCK, Texas. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the two-day Big 12 Indoor Championship on Friday (Feb. 24) and Saturday (Feb. 25) hosted by Texas Tech at the Sports Performance Complex in Lubbock, Texas.

The multi events start at 10 a.m., CT with the women's pentathlon 60 meter hurdles. The field events begin at 3 p.m. CT, with the women's pole vault and weight throw, on the track the women's mile starts it off at 3:10 p.m. CT.

Last year at the Championships hosted by Iowa State in Ames, Iowa, the men's team finished 6th with 61 points, while the women's team placed 7th with 56 points.

In the USTFCCCA event squad rankings released on Monday (Feb. 20), the women's weight throw stayed consistent at No. 4, while the men's high jump team stayed at No. 5.

Big 12 opponents in the USTFCCCA National top-25 include Texas' women at No. 1, men at No. 5, Texas Tech's men at No. 3, women at No. 14, Oklahoma State's men at No. 6, women at No. 23 and Oklahoma's men at No. 23.

Last week during the Steve Miller Invitational (Feb. 17) it was highlighted by 19 event winners and 20 new personal bests. Distance runners competed well, including sophomore Tommy Hazen (1st; 4:17.77) and junior Jack Moore (2nd; 4:17.86) both ran new bests finishing within one tenth of a second behind each other in the men's mile.

The meet will be streamed both days starting at 10 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
